I feel like I've been waiting for this wedding day forever! Gabby was a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed at the very beginning of "Rebekah Kay Photography" and through the magic of Facebook we have kept in touch. When she asked me to photograph her wedding I was excited because it's always fun to photograph bridesmaids from former weddings (I must have done a good job right!?) AND because she was getting married at the gorgeous Lyman Estate. This place is photographer's heaven! It's like going back in time, like living Downton Abbey for a day! 

The details of the day are always so great to photograph, espeically when they are so sentimental.

Katie & Matt | Granite Links | Boston Wedding Photographer

When I walked into the room to start photographing for the day, I saw Katie and wanted to give her a huge hug! Not only because it her wedding day... but I wanted to thank her for being so stunningly gorgeous, OMG! I mean she took my breath away and on top of being so beautiful and happy, her dress/shoes/jewelry/bag were made to be photographed. This wedding was completely perfect (and my lucky day!). 

Katie is obviously beyond pretty, but she had some amazing styling too! When she picked out her dress, Judd Waddell was in the bridal salon and personally picked out all of her accessories, can you imagine!? What a dream!

Katie's dad headed to the church before she was dressed so she went in to say hello when she was all glammed up. Isn't his expression priceless!? What a proud daddy!

The way these two look at each other is just completely full of love. I mean, all day they were smiling, like nobody else was there. You can tell they are happy as can be!

The is Matt's mom and her SIX sons!! She deserves some type of award don't you think!?

Diesel even made it to congratulate them! 

I am absolutely obsessed with the next two, I just can't decide which I like more!? What do you think??

Laura & Charlie | Boston Wedding Photographer | Liberty Hotel

Laura and Charlie were married on the most perfect April day that you can imagine!! Actually, everything was perfect! The ceremony and cocktail reception were at the Liberty Hotel in Boston, which is probably the coolest hotel in Boston and the bride & groom were so happy that it was radiating from their faces (you'll see...). I felt like a very lucky photographer that day!

Nicole & Patrick | Boston Wedding Photographer

What an awesome way to kick off wedding seasons 2013!! Nicole and Patrick's wedding was nothing but happy faces all day from both of them (and all their friends or family!) It really makes my job so easy when I am photographing people who are genuinely smiling, laughing and in love. 

loving this clutch on bottom left that has been in the hands of some very important women in Nicole's life..

Mother/Daughter time before the ceremony always makes me/my camera so happy. I mean, look at them, hands entwined, not being able to look at each other, trying to fight the happy tears, beautiful moments.

Bridal Portrait on the left is definitely one of my favorites ever. The bride, the flowers, the light, ahhhh.... Nicole was flawless! 

Sacred Heart Church in Quincy is one of those gorgeous old Boston churches that everyone wants to get married in! 

Bonus of getting married right after Easter, all the flowers on the altar!

Living in New England, you never know what you're going to get when it comes to weather, especially in April. We totally lucked out! It may have been a bit chilly and the sun was a little harsh... but being able to be outdoors in the spring with light like this is amazing!

When it comes to toasts as a photographer you're looking for reactions, and I can say without a doubt that the toasts at this wedding had the most laughter I've ever seen!

I've set the dates and time slots go FAST so email/call me soon if you would like to secure your session. Availability is limited and sessions will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. 

Saturday 5/4 at Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester MA

Sunday 5/5 at Boston Public Garden 

Sunday 5/19 Studio Father's Day Session ($100 includes 1 digital file)

Saturday 6/22 Lakeside at Big Island Pond in Derry NH

Mini Sessions are $125 for about 25 minutes. Studio Mini's are $100. All sessions will have styling suggestions and consults!

...the value of a moment

Sunday night I saw a picture on Pinterest and loved it so much so I posted it on Facebook:

A few moments later, I got a message that someone had tagged me in a post on Facebook: "Thanks Rebekah Kay for sharing it will fit PERFECTLY in my slideshow for my mom's Celebration of Life service on Tuesday."

I hadn't heard yet, but one of my very best clients had lost her mother to a long tough battle with cancer. Tears came to my eyes immediately and I ran upstairs to check her page on the computer instead of my iPhone and to get away from everyone. I couldn't believe how emotional I was about a woman I had only met a few times, (actually to give you an idea how VIP this family is, I had photographed her 4 times in 3 years, the MOM of my client had been to 4 of the 6 sessions, I guess that also tells you how important this woman was to her family). I think every time I saw her, she had been coming from the doctor for a check up or some type of treatment and never once did she seem unhappy. Her grandson, Danny, lit her up and with her smile you would never have known what she was going through. She is truly an inspiration of the strength of a woman who loves her family! I can imagine she was probably in pain and tired and sad, but for her daughter and grandson, she was happy! 

I'm thankful to have met her and a portion of all print sales for April 2013 will be donated to The V Foundation. If you don't know about The V Foundation, all you need to see is this speech by Jimmy V.  Coincidentally, on Sunday there was a documentary about Jimmy V. My husband and I watch his special/speech every year and think of those we have lost to cancer. 

 

 

 

Rebekah Kay Photography | THE STUDIO

On Friday I had one of the best moments of my life and it was totally unexpected! I took my two little guys over to the studio to drop off some stuff and let my 3 year old run around. He LOVES being there! It's so funny b/c he has no concept of what the place really is, but he knows it's big, empty, new and exciting! 

As we were leaving, I put Nick in the car and I turned to buckle Jason (b/c he has to get in the seat ALL BY MYSELF!!) and saw THE SIGN. It wasn't supposed to be up yet, I couldn't believe my eyes and then I jumped up & down and smiled/cried/laughed all at once. Of course this totally freaked out Jason b/c he thought something was wrong and trust me, explaining to a toddler that you cry when you are happy, doesn't go over too well! I ran over to take a picture but then ran back b/c Jason was getting out of the car to follow me through the parking lot, yikes!! I must have looked completely insane to anyone watching me running back & forth, smiling/crying/laughing. 

I think the best part about it is that I didn't realize how important that sign would be and how amazing to see my name above a door. I hadn't stopped to imagine it, which is probably why it meant so much! It was a moment I will never forget and I almost wish there was video surveillance of the parking lot so that I could watch my reaction. There were two other people with me... but not really the ones you can share a "moment" with! Luckily I have Instagram and Facebook! I posted this picture right away and was overwhelmed with the "likes" and comments. I was literally in tears seeing all the positive feedback and love from friends/family/clients. I am a lucky girl!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Studio Opening in April 2013

I couldn't be more excited to make this announcement! It is a dream come true in so many ways. This spring I will be opening up a studio in Windham, NH. It is absolutely perfect and the next step to building Rebekah Kay Photography. Right now I just have the key to show off, but be prepared to follow me the entire way as I make the space my own. All the love and support from friends & family is what makes me love my "job" and I can't wait to take RKP to the next level with all of you.

Brian & Jenny | NH Engagement Photographer | Searles Castle

I'm so in love with the pictures from Brian & Jenny's engagement session at Searles Castle in Windham, NH. They were taken in the fall when the castle is just so gorgeous! I mean look at that sunlight! Not too mention that Brian and Jenny are completely adorable (and beautiful!). 

Next I need a wedding at Searles Castle! Know anyone getting married there? I will offer a huge bonus for any 2013/2014 Searles Castle wedding.
